New Delhi: Meanwhile, the Centre on Wednesday has agreed to set up a Spices Park in Nizamabad instead of a Turmeric Board as sought by the K Kavitha. Kavitha met the Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Commerce on Wednesday to follow-up on her letters written earlier to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking the setting up of Turmeric Board.

However, the Minister reportedly assured her that the Spices Park would focus on turmeric, instead of other spices. Kavitha earlier held that such a Board might not render justice to the needs of the turmeric farmers of Telangana. The Union Rural Development Minister Chaudhury Birendra Singh assured the Nizamabad MP of funds for the Drinking Water Pipeline Grid from the next year onwards as the budgetary provision for this year was over.

She also sought funds for Mission Kakatiya from the MGNREGA funds and Backward Relief Grant Funds for the nine districts of Telangana listed under the category. Funds from other sources like the National Literacy Funds would also do, she pleaded.
