Hyderabad: The TPCC has strongly condemned the non-inclusion of AICC President Sonia Gandhi's role in formation of Telangana State in the school textbooks. Speaking to media persons in Gandhi Bhavan, TPCC President N Uttam Kumar Reddy, said that the 22nd chapter titled ‘The movement for formation of Telangana State’ eulogises only Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and his party, while sacrifices made by martyrs and students over the last 60 years, were completely overlooked.

Even the efforts made by the Congress party both at State and Central level was not mentioned in the chapter. He described it as fascist tendency and demonstrates autocratic and dictatorial attitude of KCR. “Congress will not tolerate this kind of behavior,” he cautioned.

Describing this as example of KCR’s habit of backtracking on his assurances, Mohammed Shabbir Ali, Leader of Opposition in Legislative Council showed a video clipping of KCR’s promise to include Sonia Gandhi’s contribution in Telangana in Legislative Council on March 14.

The Congress leaders demanded the State Government to immediately revise the chapter by including the role played by all organisations and individuals in the statehood movement, especially Sonia Gandhi and Congress party. They warned of severe protest if same book is included in the syllabus.
