Alair encounter: SIT official’s presense in court sought

A two-judge bench of the High Court at Hyderabad comprising acting Chief Justice Dilip B Bhosale and Justice SV Bhatt on Tuesday asked the Telangana government to ensure a senior officer of the SIT investigating the Alair encounter be present in court on Thursday.

The bench also wanted the government to make clear its stance on whether it was willing to enlarge the scope of the SIT to cover the issue genuineness of the ‘encounter’. The bench is dealing with a writ appeal arising out of a writ plea filed by members of the victims Viquaruddin and other four persons who were killed in encounter with the police when they were being brought from Warangal.
