Hyderabad: The ruling TRS now seems to have cast its eyes on causing a major dent in the Telangana Congress and seems to have targeted Nalgonda district which happens to be the stronghold of the party. Nalgonda it may be mentioned is represented by the leader of opposition K Jana Reddy and the TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy among other leaders.

The TRS which wants to make a dent in the Congress strength is now said to be luring the kith and kin of Congress leaders. Though the efforts to weaken the Congress party in this district began sometime back, with the MLC elections under local body quota fast approaching, political heat seems to be gaining ground. On Saturday, the Gutha Jitender Reddy who is the brother of Congress MP Gutha Sukhender Reddy joined the TRS on Saturday at Chief Minister’s camp office here.

Jitender Reddy who is also the Chairman of Nalgonda and Rangareddy Mutual Co-operative Milk Producers’ Private Limited (NARMUL) along with his supporters took the primary membership of the TRS. Interestingly, the Congress MP fought tooth and nail against KCR government on the appointment of six Parliamentary Secretaries in the rank of deputy ministers in the High Ccourt and succeeded in getting the appointments nullified.

In another political development, Congress leader Komatireddy Venkat Reddy called on the Chief Minister amidst speculations that his younger brother and former MP K Rajagopal Reddy is set to join the TRS. Sources said that though efforts were on to see that Rajagopal Reddy gets the nod of AICC for contesting the MLC seat, the TPCC president was opposing his candidature and this had led to Rajagopal looking towards the pink party.

It is also being said in political circles that the TRS was willing to accommodate Rajagopal Reddy and make him the party candidate in the Local Area Constituency if necessary by denying T Chinnappa Reddy who had quit TDP and joined TRS about three months back.

However, speaking to newsmen after meeting the Chief Minister, Komatireddy clarified that he met the Chief Minister to seek his intervention in resolving issues related to his constituency. He said that KCR had assured that Udaya Samudram Lift Irrigation project would be completed soon.
