Terms TRS Cabinet a ‘half TDP’ one, accuses State govt of unfulfilling poll promises

New Delhi: Md Shabbir Ali, Leader of Opposition, Telangana Legislative Council, here on Saturday asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to explain why he and his party were keeping silent on Revanth Reddy’s issue. Lashing out at the Centre for its dubious silence ‘because the TDP is an ally of the ruling party’, Shabbir Ali said it was shameful that Union Minister Piyush Goel was sent to broker peace between the sparring Chief Ministers of AP and Telangana in the presence of the Governor.

There was no other reason for Piyush Goel to visit Hyderabad except for protecting Chandrababu Naidu’s interests, he said. Accusing Chandrababu Naidu of luring not just the nominated MLA Stephenson but also some Congress MLAs, Shabbir Ali sought an explanation from Telangana Chief Minister, K Chandrashekar Rao for not acting against Naidu so far despite having ‘evidence’ as revealed by Home Minister Naini Narasimha Reddy.

Or was there a ‘match-fixing’ between the two Chief Ministers in view of their past association, he asked. Alleging that KCR too was adopting similar methods as those of Chandrababu Naidu, in wooing other party MLAs, he wondered whether Chandrashekar Rao too offered similar lures to do so as Naidu did.

Calling the TRS Cabinet a ‘half TDP Cabinet’ as eight of the TDP MLAs who defected to the TRS were accommodated in it, he said the very democratic spirit was being sniffed out by the two. Questioning Chandrashekar Rao as to why the long-standing leaders of the TRS found no place in the Cabinet, he said it was unfortunate that the former was keen on hounding the students who played a key role in the Telangana movement all these days.

Objecting to the proposal of using Osmania University lands for a housing project, he said instead, the Chief Minister should first appoint Vice-Chancellors to the universities. Terming the one year rule of Chandrashekar Rao a total failure, he said not a single promise was kept and instead, more false promises were being heaped on people with an eye on the GHMC elections.

Referring to Bhamrao Bada that the Congress leadership wanted to take over for their headquarters, he said, Rao should question his party secretary general, Keshava Rao, who was instrumental in the decision while in the Congress.
