The All Party Committee headed by Home Minister Naini Narasimha Reddy on GHMC and HMWSSB has suggested Telangana government to enhance administrative sanctions to maintain quality in execution of works. The committee observed that there are only 1416 active contractors and 304 engineers for about 15318 works with the estimated cost of Rs 1275 Cr.

It proposed to enhance the administrative sanctions of GHMC commissioner from Rs 50 lakh to 2 cr, GHMC standing committee from Rs 2 cr to 10 cr, GHMC general body from Rs 5 cr to Rs 50 cr and for government of Telangana above 5 cr to Rs 50 cr.

Hyderabad: The All Party Committee headed by Home Minister Naini Narasimha Reddy on GHMC and HMWSSB has suggested Telangana government to enhance administrative sanctions to maintain quality in execution of works. The committee observed that there are only 1416 active contractors and 304 engineers for about 15318 works with the estimated cost of Rs 1275 Cr. It also observed that the major delay was due to old administrative and technical sanctions and suggested to re-visit it.


The All Party Committee also proposed to enhance the administrative sanctions of GHMC commissioner from Rs 50 lakh to 2 cr, GHMC standing committee from Rs 2 cr to 10 cr, GHMC general body from Rs 5 cr to Rs 50 cr and for government to of Telangana above 5 cr to Rs 50 cr. The committee also envisaged to design packages of works costing about Rs 2 crs in order to get able contractors who execute quality works.

It also decided to encourage new contractors with work experience, who are from weaker sections. It would also support engineers with new policy rules by providing working capital and equipment through banks. It also hinted that it would fill up all existing vacancies of AEEs and AEs in this regard.
