AP charges on water projects baseless: CM
Countering the allegations of Andhra Pradesh government that Telangana had taken up Palamuru lift irrigation and Dindi projects without obtaining statutory clearances, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao lashed out at the AP Government for making baseless charges.
Hyderabad: Countering the allegations of Andhra Pradesh government that Telangana had taken up Palamuru lift irrigation and Dindi projects without obtaining statutory clearances, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao lashed out at the AP Government for making baseless charges.
KCR at a public meeting in Nalgonda on Friday showed the copies of documents and said that the clearances for these two projects were obtained during united Andhra Pradesh by the then Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhar Reddy in 2007. Even the detailed project report for Dindi was prepared by YSR government.
The TS government was only implementing the projects that were conceived in the past and hence there was nothing illegal in it, he said. Earlier, addressing media at Telangana Bhavan, Harish stated that the State government was following all rules regarding construction of Palamoor and Dindi projects.
Palamoor scheme is intended to fulfill drinking water needs of HMDA region. Andhra Pradesh TDP leaders reside here, drink Hyderabad water and enjoy all facilities but they oppose a project meant to address drinking water woes of the capital, Harish pointed out. He called upon film personalities, industrialists and celebrities in Hyderabad to denounce the stand taken by those leaders.
He faulted the neighbouring State for going ahead with Pattiseema project, which was a classic example of violation of norms set for irrigation projects. He also questioned the stand of Telangana Telugu Desam leaders L Ramana, Errabelli Dayakar Rao and others on the issue.
