Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) is said to have granted permission by the Central Election Commission to go ahead with their probe against the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders in the cash for vote scam.

With the TDP leaders calling it unfair on the police agencies questioning and harassment, Telangana ACB Commissioner claimed to have the Election Commission’s backing for the probe.

The ACB Commissioner in a statement said that the Revanth Reddy bribery case would be pursued as per the directions of the Election Commission of India and also added that the Chief Electoral Officer in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh had communicated this effect.

Telangana TDP president L Ramana, however, suspected the authenticity of the communication from the EC that was being claimed by the Telangana ACB and said that biased agencies like ACB cannot be trusted who are working under the control of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) president and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. Hence he said that the TDP wants the probe to be handled by an independent agency like the Election Commission.
