The Telangana Information Technology Association (TITA) members including TITA-NRI's took part in the first ever International Yoga Day. Across the globe, Yoga programmes under the banner of 'TITA Yogathon' were held at 13 different places including Hyderabad, Warangal, Bangalore, Mumbai, USA, South Africa and Singapore.

Nearly 100 techies rolled out mats and performed 25 sets of Surya Namaskar "sun salutation" in Hyderabad TITA "It’s a busy world we live in today, with increasing demands on employers and employees alike.

We work long hours, often hunched over a computer. We skip meals, keep a phone glued to our ear, and rarely leave our workspace for a break. Before long, these work habits begin to take their toll on our bodies and minds in the form of stress, tension and sickness.

And while a mild amount of stress can help us meet deadlines, too much stress, or constant stress, can interfere with numerous physical and mental abilities. How we respond to stress can have a significant impact on our total health."

said TITA Founder & President Sundeep "A growing body of research suggests that yoga and meditation may reduce the stress that tends to assail bodies confined to desks for hours at a time.

Companies are investing in the notion that limiting stress will translate into fewer employee absences, lower health care costs and higher morale, encouraging workers to stick around. EVERY company should have weekly yoga classes offered at their workplace. The benefits will not only make employees happier, but more productive and excited to come to work.

It is an excellent practice to combat repetitive stress injuries or postural imbalances that occur from long periods of sitting at a desk/computer. Offering yoga at work is an excellent way to highlight the importance of health within the company and boost employee moral." said Makthala.
