The municipal employee unions in the GHMC will go on an indefinite strike from June 25, if the salaries of the municipal employees were not increased on par with government and RTC employees.Speaking to mediapersons, Shanker, a BMS leader, alleged that the government has failed to address the issues even after staging various dharnas across the state starting from June 16.

Hyderabad: The municipal employee unions in the GHMC will go on an indefinite strike from June 25, if the salaries of the municipal employees were not increased on par with government and RTC employees.Speaking to mediapersons, Shanker, a BMS leader, alleged that the government has failed to address the issues even after staging various dharnas across the state starting from June 16.


He said that, seven unions including CITU, FTU, BMS, HMS, IFTU, AITUC and TSTU unions have already served strike notices to the government on June 8. But the government has not responded, said the BMS leader. The BMS leader said, "the seven unions will hold dharnas in all the municipalities and will go on strike from June 25 if the government fails to respond".


The primary demands of the employees and workers are: fixation of a minimum salary of Rs 14,170 for sanitation workers and Rs, 17,380 for non-sanitation workers, issue of health cards and credit PF directly into their accounts.
