Accuses the CM of mocking the city residents hailing from AP

Hyderabad: The Leader of Opposition in Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir and Greater Hyderabad Congress Committee (GHCC) cautioned the Andhra Pradesh natives living in the city about election tactics of Chief Minister and Telangana Rashtra Samithi chief K Chandrashekar Rao.

Speaking to media persons in Gandhi Bhavan, Shabbir reminded the attitude of the Chief Minister prior to the general elections in 2014 and after the elections. He also recalled the way Chandrashekar Rao mocked at people hailing from Andhra Pradesh before being elected as Chief Minister and during the Telangana movement.

While referring to the way constructions in Ayyappa Society were bulldozed, which had affected the common people, he questioned why N-Convention Centre and Padmalaya Studious were spared. “These establishments were spared only with an eye on the oncoming GHMC elections,” he said.

Shabbir Ali said Chandrashekar Rao who changed his colours like ‘chameleon’ was trying to make people of Andhra Pradesh living in the city believe soften their stand on the TRS by promising regularisation of lands under possession of film industry professionals. “How could he regularise lands of people from film industry, with a Cabinet nod, as he himself termed them being run as commercial spaces?” he wondered.

He said that GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar instead of properly maintaining the infrastructure created during the Congress regime and ensuring lifting of garbage, had been spending most of his time praising Chandrashekar Rao. He advised Somesh Kumar to resign from his post and officially join the TRS if he was so impressed with the vision of Chandrashekar Rao.

Shabbir Ali said the Congress has received tremendous response to the constituency-wise review meeting which it started in view of GHMC elections. He said so far, the review of six constituencies had been completed and all 24 constituencies in GHMC limits would be covered by this month end. He said the youth and women were highly upset with the TRS government.

While the youth were unhappy over the delay in recruitment process, the women felt that they had lost their importance and significance in the TRS government which gave no representation to woman even in the State cabinet. The women were also upset with the rising prices of essential commodities and blamed both the BJP and TRS governments at the Centre and State.

Shabbir Ali said they would explain to the people about the achievements of the previous Congress regime which spent over Rs 1 lakh crore to develop Hyderabad. He also alleged that in view of the GHMC elections, Chandrashekar Rao was trying to get friendly with settlers.

“KCR is a habitual liar and forgets what he said about a particular thing in the recent past,” he added. Pointing out that the Congress had a strong base in Greater Hyderabad, he said in 2009 GHMC elections, it had won 52 seats and stood second in 54 other seats. He said this time, the anti-incumbency factor against the TRS-MIM and TDP-BJP combines would ensure the victory of Congress in the next GHMC elections.
