Hyderabad: In view of the holy month of Ramzan, the Hyderabad City Police conducted a coordination meeting with other departments like GHMC, TS Transco, Hyderabad Metro Water Works and Sewerage Board, Fire Services, etc., involving the Masjid Committee Presidents and Pash Imams at Salarjung Museum on Tuesday to know the problems being faced in the surroundings of Masjids during prayer timings.


The Masjid Committee presidents expressed problems being faced by them like stagnation of rainwater, drainage water, streetlights etc on the premises of their mosques/masjids. City Police Commissioner Mahender Reddy conveyed Ramzan greetings to all Muslims of Hyderabad while addressing the meeting and requested the religious leaders to celebrate the festival of Ramzan in a peaceful way as it was all about contemplation, spirituality and spreading brotherhood.


While addressing the Masjid Committee members and officials of other departments, he said that the Hyderabad City Police would resolve problems like traffic conjunction etc. at the time of prayers. In respect of problems like drainages, illumination etc, he also requested the concerned officials to take preventive measures at surrounding areas of mosques and masjids.


He requested the Masjid Committee presidents to make proper arrangements for traffic/parking management on the premises of Masjids and also said that all police officers from the rank of constable to Commissioner would be available to them in case of any need. He further said that he would monitor the problems with other departments on a day-to- day by consulting with their Head of Departments.

Bala Subramanyam, GHMC Zonal Commissioner, said they had formed special teams constituency-wise to meet the requirements and to address sanitary, electrical and any other problems which could be handled by the municipal corporation. He requested the members to come forward to give their grievances if any. He also assured that the GHMC was ready to provide power generators and transformers if required.
