Hyderabad: Communist Party of India (CPI) Telangana State Council urged the Telangana State government to regularise services of outsourcing nursing staff and increase salaries as per the recommendations of the Pay Revision Commission (PRC) and prevent the strike scheduled to be held on June 29.

CPI Telangana State secretary Chada Venkat Reddy, in a letter to Health Minister C Laxma Reddy in this regard here on Sunday, said some 200 nursing staff, who joined as outsourcing employees, were working for the last 10 years. They were getting meagre salaries when compared to private hospital nurses and expecting that their jobs would be regularised.

Now, the staff decided to launch a strike by staying away from duties from June 29 in protest against the Telangana State government, which was formed a year ago, as it had failed to increase their salaries as per PRC recommendations and for not providing 35 casual leaves per year on par with the government nurses, he said.

The CPI leader also suggested that the Telangana State government resolve the problems of nursing staff and prevent their strike. He demanded that the government issue job continuance orders to them immediately.

The other demands include regularizing services of contract and outsourcing employees working with Gandhi Hospital and implement 10th PRC from the beginning; announce minimum pay scale and dearness allowance and provide 180 days maternity leave with salary for the contract and outsourcing employees.
