Narayana assails Naidu for politicising scam

New Delhi: CPI leader, Narayana, on Monday hit back at the AP Chief Minister, N Chandrababu Naidu, for politicising the cash-for-vote scam and creating a fuss over Section 8 issue. Speaking to the media here on Monday, Narayana said Naidu was trying to portray himself as a victim in the issue by demanding invoking of Section 8 provisions that had nothing to do with the allegations against him.

The cash-for-vote scam which created a political turmoil in the two Telugu States was a result of the apathy of the Speakers of both the States who had turned a blind eye to the issue of political defections. If only they were to take action against political turncoats in time, the very case of cash-for-vote scam would not have arisen, he said.

He said the Centre was also responsible for the mess as it did not deem it fit to intervene in time or advise the Governor properly, he added. He said he was withdrawing his case in the High Court regarding political defections only to file another later with complete details. He also lashed out at the Centre for "aiding and abetting" an accused in the IPL (Lalit Modi) case.
