Hyderabad: The High Court here on Tuesday granted conditional bail to Telugu Desam MLA A Revanth Reddy and two other accused in the cash-for-vote case. The High Court directed Revanth Reddy and the two others -- Bishop Harry Sebastian and R Uday Simha -- to furnish a personal bond of Rs 5 lakh each and two sureties of the like amount.

They were also asked to cooperate with the investigating agency (Anti-Corruption Bureau). Revanth was also asked to surrender his passport and not to leave his Assembly constituency. Earlier, the special court for ACB cases had rejected their bail petitionsJustice Raja Elango granted bail after hearing the arguments of Advocate General Ramakrishna Reddy and counsel for Revanth, Harry Sebastian and Udaya Simha.

Though Revanth was to be released on Tuesday evening from Charlapally Central Prison, it did not happen as there was a delay in getting the bail orders from the court. He will be spending another night in the jail and would be released on Wednesday morning. Anticipating a favourable judgment, a large number of party activists started gathering near the High Court since morning.

As the news of his bail was announced, the followers of Revanth and TDP activists burst crackers, distributed sweets and danced to the beating of drums. A Large number of well-wishers of Revanth went to his house and participated in the celebrations there.

While Revanth’s daughter Nymisha became emotional, his wife Geetha, welcoming the bail, said her husband would continue to fight for the cause of common people. She said although they had faced several problems in their life earlier, Revanth Reddy never stayed away from the family for such a long period of 29 days.

At the TDP headquarters there was jubilation all around. Senior leaders from Telangana and AP, including AP minister Ravella Kishore Babu, Gali Muddu Krishnama Naidu and Payyavula Keshav distributed sweets. Talking to the media, the TDP leaders accused Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao of hatching a conspiracy to weaken the Telugu Desam in the State.

TTDP unit president L Ramana and former minister E Peddireddy alleged that the cash-for-vote case and other related developments were part of the larger conspiracy hatched by KCR to damage the TDP. Accusing the TRS government of implicating many TDP leaders in false cases, they said they would continue to fight for the people's cause and foisting of cases would not deter them from serving the people.

They said truth would come out soon and all those behind the conspiracy would get exposed. “Revanth Reddy was trapped as he was in the forefront in exposing the failures of the TRS government and KCR in the State,” they said.
