The Union Home Ministry has clarified that there is no need for it to revise its stand on the Governor\'s powers as far as the Law and Order is concerned in Hyderabad in its reply to a Rajya Sabha MP, Palvai Goverdhan Reddy on June 16 of this year itself.

New Delhi: The Union Home Ministry has clarified that there is no need for it to revise its stand on the Governor's powers as far as the Law and Order is concerned in Hyderabad in its reply to a Rajya Sabha MP, Palvai Goverdhan Reddy on June 16 of this year itself.

Referring to the Special Mention of the Rajya Sabha MP during the session the last year, the Union Home Minster for State, H P Chowdhry, in a letter stated that regarding the special responsibility of the Governor envisaged in Hyderabad in the AP Reorganisation Act, regarding the Law and Order, a common capital of TS and AP, a memorandum was sent to the TS government on June 4, 2014 itself.

The Telangana government, in its reply, had clarified that everything was done according to the Constitutional and AP Reorganization Act provisions. The operative portion of the communication did not have any directives to the TS Government, the reply to Reddy stated adding that the Centre was happy to note it.
