The photograph “Who will save this beti” published in Hans India July 5 was very moving and should open the eyes of our politicians and administrators who simply give lip service and coin trendy slogans regarding girl education and child labour. The attitude of the boy is also feudal in nature and perhaps reflects a part of the atmosphere at home, which is alarming.

The more worrying part is that no one knows how many such minors are suffering silently. The most ironic part of the front page coverage was that on one side you have a minor girl suffering and on the other four women topping the UPSC exams, with a differently-abled Ira Singhal topping the charts. Hearty Congratulations to all of them.
