Hyderabad: Central Vigilance Commissioner K V Chowdary has strongly advocated for the need of speedy disposal of corruption cases pending with various departments across the country. Emphasising on the need of early detection of the frauds, he said that preventive vigilance was the first priority of the commission.

  • About 6,500 cases of fraud being investigated by CBI pending before CVC for about 20 years
  • CVC wants booking of fraud cases done in a quick manner
  • Most cases booked in TS are from Revenue Dept: TS Vigilance chief

Delivering a key-note address at the 12th Anniversary Celebrations of Vigilance Study Circle here on Tuesday, he said, “I am not interested in booking 100 cases and taking ten years to conclude them. Rather if there is a possibility of booking 10 cases, take them to conclusion within one year so that there is a lesson.” "Identify cases before they become fraud and once you identify such a case, ensure that it is taken to a logical end within a reasonable time," the officer said.

Chowdary said that there were about 6,500 cases of fraud being investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) before Vigilance Commission for about 20 years and the number of cases under trial for 10 years does not have their count. He said that the Commission has requested the CBI for giving the court-wise details of such cases so that it can take up these cases with Chief Justices of various High Courts for speedy disposal.

He stressed the need for booking the cases against any offence of fraud in a shortest time and ensure their logical conclusion as early as possible to stop further such offences. Telangana Vigilance Commissioner K R Nandan said that most of the cases of fraud have been booked or registered from Revenue department and least number of cases was recorded in Information Technology depart ment. “Corruption can be downsized by minimising the interface between government functionary and people in each department,” he observed.
