Hyderabad: With no end in sight to the ongoing strike by the Municipal employees, road sweeping operations and garbage clearing activities have come to a standstill across the state. The Municipal Unions of Sanitation and Health Workers, who held talks with the Telangana State government, decided to continue the strike as the Ministers failed to come up with any new solution.

The Home Minister, Naini Narsimha Reddy and Eatala Rajender told the employees that they were yet to discuss the issue with the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. The union leaders said they would not call off the strike until they got assurance from the government on increasing the minimum wages of contract workers to Rs.14,170 and Rs.17,380 for permanent employees. Sanitary conditions in the city worsened with overflowing garbage bins and stench emanating from them.
