Hyderabad: The manage- ment of Chaitanya Bharathi Institute of Technology (CBIT) said TRS MP Konda Visweswara Reddy was inel- igible to be a member of the Chaitanya Bharathi Insti- tute of Technology Society (CBITS). Addressing newspersons here on Monday, CBIT Pres- ident and CBITS chairman V Malakonda Reddy admit- ted that he made a mistake by inducting Visweswara Reddy and a few others without following guidelines of the society.

“To be a member of the society one has to pay Rs one lakh. How- ever in case of Visweswara Reddy, it was not followed,” Malakonda Reddy said. He further said that Visweswara was making al- legations as he was removed from the board on the tech- nical grounds. However, Malakonda Reddy failed to give details of how many members were removed and on what technical grounds.

It may be worth mentioning here that certain section of media had reported that with allegations on the CBIT, Telangana govern- ment is likely to take over the college and Irrigation minister T Harish Rao was working in that direction. It was also reported that man- agement seats were being sold at a premium price and Rs 400 crore were siphoned off. Malakonda Reddy said Harish Rao, chief secretaries and among top influential people wanted seats in the college.

“About 300 requests came for seats. Harish Rao asked for five to six seats. However, the management did not budge. Those per- sons who could not get their candidates admission in the college are levelling allega- tions and blackmailing the college management,” he said.

On allegations of Union State Minister YS Chowdary dictating terms in the col- lege matters, Malakonda Reddy said charges were completely false. YS Chowdary was ex-student of CBIT and he has no other connection with the college, he added.
