Telangana CM Sets Celebrations In Motion. Godavari Pushkaralu began with great fanfare and religious fervour in the district on Tuesday. Amid Vedic hymns chanted by the heads of various Peethams, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao inaugurated the 12-day festival by taking a holy dip in the Godavari at Dharmapuri in the district early in the morning.

Dharmapuri (Karimnagar): Godavari Pushkaralu began with great fanfare and religious fervour in the district on Tuesday. Amid Vedic hymns chanted by the heads of various Peethams, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao inaugurated the 12-day festival by taking a holy dip in the Godavari at Dharmapuri in the district early in the morning.

Earlier, the Chief Minister, along with the heads of various Peethams, priests and other important personalities in the State government, participated in a Shobha Yatra taken out in the temple town and reached the VIP Ghat at around 6.05 am. He performed special pujas to River Godavari before taking a holy dip at around 6.21 am to mark the beginning of the Maha Pushkaralu.

The heads of six Peethams performed pujas in the river along with the Chief Minister. Chandrashekar Rao, along with his wife and grandson, arrived at Dharmapuri on Monday evening and stayed at the Haritha Hotel at night.

At around 5.30 am, he reached Laxmi Narasimha Swamy temple from where the Shobha Yatra was started. After taking bath, he returned to the temple to have the darshan of Lord Narasimha Swamy. He flew back to Hyderabad after unveiling the pylon of Godavari Pushkaralu near the TSRTC bus stand.

Endowment Minister A Indrakaran Reddy, Government Chief Whip Koppula Eeshwar, Advisor to the Government KV Ramanachary, State government representative in the Centre Venugopalachary, Peddapalli MP Balka Suman, TRS MLAs and others also participated in the programme.

Deputy Speaker Padma Devender Reddy and Maheshwaram MLA Teegala Krishna Reddy who recently joined the TRS also visited Dharmapuri. On the other hand, Ministers Eatala Rajender, Thalasani Srinivas Yadav and local MLA Putta Madhu inaugurated Pushkaralu in Kaleshwaram by performing special pujas to the Godavari.

It is the lone Siva temple in the entire Godavari river basin where Pushkaralu are being held.
