Minister says the TDP role in the backwardness of Mahabubnagar district will be exposed if they come for discussion

Hyderabad: Industries Minister Jupally Krishna Rao on Wednesday claimed that that the TDP leaders had no guts to debate on the development of Mahabubnagar district. As part of the challenge for an open debate, Jupally came to the Assembly's Committee Hall and waited for the TDP leaders for almost one-and-a-half hour.

Speaking to media persons later, Jupally said the TDP leaders did not come for the debate as they were afraid that their party's role in the backwardness of Mahabubnagar district would be exposed. He said he was ready for a debate anywhere, anytime with the TDP leaders.

As against the sanctioned projects of Rs 7,800 crore during TDP regime, not even Rs 10 crore was released, he said. Jupally said if Telangana TDP leaders were serious about Mahabubnagar development, then they must get a letter from Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and their party president N Chandrababu Naidu stating that he was not against the construction of Palamuru Lift Irrigation Project.

Reacting to it, senior TDP leader Ravula Chandrashekar Reddy advised Jupally to fix a different venue to conduct debate on development of Mahabubnagar district. Speaking to media persons at NTR Trust Bhavan here on Wednesday, Ravula said the permission of Speaker S Madhusudan Chary would be required to conduct any debate on the Assembly premises.

Therefore, he said, the Minister should select a different venue and also avoid bringing rowdies along with him for the debate. He claimed that the previous TDP government had taken several measures for the development of Mahabubnagar district.
