In a marathon review meeting held for six hours specifically about irrigation projects on Godavari river, Chandrashekar Rao said that TRS government was planning to irrigate 50 lakh acres in 50 constituencies that fall in Godavari basin.

In a marathon review meeting held for six hours specifically about irrigation projects on Godavari river, Chandrashekar Rao said that TRS government was planning to irrigate 50 lakh acres in 50 constituencies that fall in Godavari basin.


Ten lakh acres are being irrigated through SRSP, Nizamsagar and Kadem projects. The new projects should supply 400 tmc of water to irrigate the remaining 40 lakh acres in five districts, he said. Rao directed Water and Power Consultancy Services (WAPCOS) to conduct resurvey of Pranahita-Chevella, Devadula, Kanthanapalli, Dummugudam and other projects to ensure maximum benefits to farmers and people of Telangana State. He alleged that previous governments in undivided Andhra Pradesh designed projects in such a way that many bottlenecks arise and ultimately they did not go ahead.
