Hyderabad: BJP floor leader Dr K Lakshman on Sunday said the Centre was extending complete support for the development of Telangana State. Addressing a press conference here, he said the Centre was committed to provide necessary financial assistance to the 29th State of India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was touring various nations and bringing in huge investments besides extending bilateral ties, was giving equal priority to the development of States, Lakshman stated.
As per 14th Finance Commission recommendations, the Centre increased funds to the States to 42 per cent from 32 percent, and allotted to Telangana State Rs 13,728 crore for 2014-15 fiscal. With this, Telangana state would get Rs 94,923 crore over five years which was Rs 85,128 crore higher than recommended by the 13th Finance Commission, he said. The BJP leader also said that the Centre was keen on Telangana development in all spheres.
It allotted Rs 8,764 crore grant including Rs 5,375 crore for Panchayat Raj and Rs 3,389 crore for Urban Development, Rs 1,200 crore for AIIMS in Nalgonda, Rs 202 crore for horticulture university in Medak and Komaram Bheem tribal varsity in Adilabad district, Rs 300 crore for Pharma industry in 75 acres in Nalgonda district and gave priority for education and health, taking steps for setting up ESI Medical College at Sanath Nagar in Hyderabad.
The Centre allotted Rs 140 crore for construction of a flyover at Amberpet 6 Number Crossroad on NH 202 in Hyderabad, Rs 183 crore for Nizamabad-Peddapalli railway line, sanctioned new line from Kazipet to Mumbai, Rs 3,700 crore for taking up national highways, Rs 5,200 crore for fertilizers factory in Karimnagar to provide jobs to 2,000 persons and sanctioned Rs 75 crore to Hyderabad through Swatch Bharath programme, he said.
He also said that in recognition to former Prime Minister the late PV Narasimha Rao, the Centre had taken a decision to construct a memorial in Delhi, to set up a Turmeric Board in Nizamabad, spent Rs 250 crore for fluoride research centre in Nalgonda, Rs 200 crore to develop Warangal as a heritage city over five years, Rs 110 subsidy for two mega food parks in Mahabubnagar and Khammam, textile parks in Nalgonda, Medak and Ranga Reddy and decided to provide health insurance to 24,148 handloom workers in the State, he added.
The BJP leader also said the Centre was taking steps to connect Southern Grid with Northern Grid besides giving 222 mw of power. It had taken a decision to divert 330 mw of power to Telangana State to overcome power crisis and given nod to set up steel industry at Bayyaram in Khammam. Power projects with adequate funds were sanctioned in Karimnagar, Mahabunagar and Nalgonda districts with necessary forest clearances, he said.
