6 pilgrims die, 6 others hurt in separate accidents

Karimnagar/Bhadrachalam/Warangal: Three devotees died and three others were injured in a road accident at Ambaripet village under Velgatur mandal on Sunday morning. In a separate incident, another man died while he was waiting for having darshan of Lord Rama in Bhadrachalam.

In yet another incident, two pilgrims were killed and three others critically injured when the autorickshaw they were travelling turned turtle at Kamalapur near Mangapet in Warangal district on Sunday.

According to the police, the three devotees died and three others were injured when a car in which the members of a family were travelling rammed into another vehicle. They hailed from Sherlingampalli in Hyderabad. They were on their way to Dharmapuri to take holy dip in the river Godavari.

While a woman Subbamma died on the spot, another woman Venkatalaxmi and a man Srinivas succumbed to injuries on the way to hospital. The condition of another person Alluraiah is stated to be critical. A total of six persons were travelling in the vehicle when the accident happened. Injured persons were ferried to Karimnagar district headquarters hospital.

Meanwhile, in Bhadrachalam, G Shyam Sundar, a 65-year-old pilgrim from Kalyanadurg of Anantapur district, collapsed and died when he was in the queue waiting for Lord Rama’s darshan. It was learnt that he was suffering from breathing related problems. The administration made arrangements to send his body to his native place.

In a separate accident, tragedy struck the pilgrims who came to take a holy dip in River Godavari on the occasion of Mahapushkaralu when an auto rickshaw carrying them over turned leaving two of them dead and three of them critically injured at Kamalapur on Sunday.

They were shifted to MGM Hospital in Warangal for treatment where A Renuka (35) of Kottur village in Rayaparthy mandal and E Sushila (60) of Anantharam in Wardhannapet mandal in Warangal district died. The condition of a person called A Pentaiah of Kottur village is said to be critical.
