Hyderabad: Telangana State Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Monday directed the Finance Department to release Rs 10 crore immediately for Bonalu festival that kicked off on Sunday at Golconda . He also constituted a five-member ministers panel led by Naini Narasimha Reddy to ensure the popular festival of Hyderabad-Secunderabad be organised on a grand scale.

Chandrashekar Rao held a review meeting with ministers Naini Narasimha Reddy and Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Chief Secretary Dr Rajiv Sharma, GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar and Hyderabad Police Commissioner Mahender Reddy at the camp office on Monday.

The Endowments Department and the Municipal Corporation allocated Rs 5 crore each for Bonalu. Apart from Naini, the committee includes Indrakaran Reddy, Mahmood Ali, Padma Rao and Talasani. He instructed the Endowments Commissioner Shivshanker to co-ordinate with ministers and the civic body.

KCR directed the officials to illuminate all temples with decorative lights, clean up all roads leading to temple shrines apart from providing drinking water facility for devotees. Also, the Chief Minister would be visiting the famous Yellamma temple at Balkampet along with his wife to perform prayers on Tuesday. The temple committee met him and extended invitation.

CM speaks to Collectors Later, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao spoke over phone with the Collectors of five districts, where Godavari Pushkaralu were being held. He directed the district administrations to take all the necessary steps to ensure hassle-free darshan and holy dip for the devotees.

Meanwhile, KCR decided to attend the ritual of Balkampet Yellamma Kalyana Mahotsavalu near Ameerpet in the city on July 21 at 11 am. Chief priest Balakrishna Sharma along with Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav called on the Chief Minister at the camp office and explained about the festivities of the presiding deity and the importance of the ritual.
