Hyderabad: Criticising opposition parties, especially Congress, for the public outcry against MLAs joining the ruling party, en-mass, senior politician D Srinivas, who recently joined the TRS, advocated for wider debate on anti-defection law. The Congress party lured several TRS legislators into its fold ten-years ago and when its own MLAs are replicating it, senior Congressmen are indulging in blame-game, which is not correct, he said.

Addressing media here on Thursday, Srinivas, however, said that he was not in favour of defections. He reminded that he vehemently opposed Congress party's strategy to destabilise TRS in 2004. They are many loopholes in the anti-defection law and hence extensive deliberations should be held involving intellectuals and experts to arrive at a fool-proof rule.

As regards his future in TRS, the senior leader replied that there was no wish list. He said that he held several posts during his career. He made an interesting observation that he pinned hopes on a coveted post in 2009, but it eluded him then.

The former Congress leader was highly impressed by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao's vision and road-map for Bangaru Telangana, which they both discussed over luncheon meeting held a day earlier. Under his tenure, Telangana would grow up the ladder in all fields, DS opined.
