19 striking civic workers sacked
As many as 19 sanitation supervisors working for Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC), who were on strike for the past 19 days, were removed from services here on Friday. The CITU city wing general secretary R Ramesh said that the commissioner Sarfaraz Ahmed issued orders to remove the names of the supervisors from the muster rolls.
Warangal: As many as 19 sanitation supervisors working for Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC), who were on strike for the past 19 days, were removed from services here on Friday. The CITU city wing general secretary R Ramesh said that the commissioner Sarfaraz Ahmed issued orders to remove the names of the supervisors from the muster rolls.
He alleged that corporation officials were planning to threaten the striking workers by such moves. But the strike would continue till the demands were fulfilled, he said and condemned the removal of workers. He demanded the corporation authorities to cancel the removal of the supervisors immediately. “If the officials fail to act, we would resort to legal course of action and would approach Human Rights Commission,” Ramesh warned.
