Hyderabad: After his visit to AP, the AICC vice president Rahul Gandhi will be visiting Telangana in the second week of August. The TPCC leaders who held a meeting along with student leaders of Osmania University have decided to organise a public meeting ‘Nirudhyoga Garjana’ in the campus.

The party leaders are of the view that Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Osmania University would highlight the plight of students and unemployed youth who took active part in the Telangana movement. While scores of students sacrificed their lives during the struggle, the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has failed to fulfil his promise of providing jobs to the educated youth.

The University being the hotbed of agitation activities, the Congress party is trying to rope in students particularly of the weaker sections. It also plans to invoke the name of Dr B R Ambedkar, who was awarded doctorate in the Osmania University in 1953. The meeting also discussed making arrangements for Rahul Gandhi’s interactive session and meal with students at the University hostel mess. Warangal, another district where the AICC vice president is likely to visit, will also have public meeting.

The Congress party which is aiming to win the Lok Sabha seat in the upcoming byelections, after Minister Kadiyam Srihari resigned to join in the State cabinet, is planning to hold a massive public meeting under the theme ‘Samajika Telangana’. The meeting will highlight the State government’s failure to implement promises made to the weaker sections, especially Dalits and Muslims.

The meeting was attended by AICC secretary RC Khuntia, TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy, former PCC chief Ponnala Lakshmaiah, Koppula Raju, chairman SC Cell, TPCC working president Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Leader of Opposition in Assembly, K Jana Reddy, former Minister J Geetha Reddy, former deputy Chief Minister Damodara Rajanarsimha, MP V Hanumanth Rao and several MLAs and MLCs, apart from student leaders.
