The PIL bench of the High Court at Hyderabad on Wednesday adjourned by two weeks a public interest writ petition on the status of the NTR Stadium in the city. The bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Dilip B Bhosale and Justice SV Bhatt was dealing with a petition filed by Forum for a Better Hyderabad through its secretary O M Debara.

The petitioner questioned the action of the GHMC in handing over the said stadium for an alleged construction of a government building. He pointed out that the stadium was shown as a recreation zone in the Master Development Plan - 2013 for Hyderabad Metropolitan Region. The said plan was prepared and notified by the government in January 2013.

He averred that no construction activity like proposed buildings can be done unless the master plan was modified. Advocate General K Ramakrishna Reddy informed the court that there was no plan to construct any building in the said area. Granting time to the government to file its counter, the bench adjourned the matter.
