Hyderabad: It has been almost one week, since the government has announced its decision to demolish the heritage structure housing Osmania General Hospital, MIM has now taken a stand to oppose the government’s move. Speaking to media persons at party headquarters in Darussalam, MIM party president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi asserted that the party was against demolition of the structure and demanded its restoration.

There are many heritage buildings in Hyderabad, which need to be protected. “MIM is opposing demolishing of Osmania hospital building, as it is a heritage not only of Hyderabad but of the entire country,” he said. Citing examples of restoration works, he said Quli Qutub Shah Tombs are more than 400-year-old and they are being restored now.

Osmania hospital complex has about 7 acres of vacant land available for the construction of other buildings to accommodate more patients. “This is more than a century-old building and it deserves restoration rather than demolition,” he emphasised.
