The adulterated toddy has been posing a threat to the lives of consumers, particularly the poor. The officials of the Prohibition and Excise department are allegedly indifferent to sale of adulterated toddy containing harmful intoxicants.

The issue was highlighted by MIM Councillor Aravind Kumar in the Tandur municipal council meeting on Tuesday. Displaying the bottle filled with adulterated toddy, he alleged that the department officials were indifferent towards checking toddy adulteration, for various reasons.

However, Excise CI Bharat Bhushan denied that adulterated toddy was being sold in the town. When contacted, he said, “Only genuine toddy is being supplied to the consumers. The department is conducting raids and so far adulterated toddy is not found,” he stated.
