Revanth seeks clemency for prisoners on eve of I-Day

TDP senior leader A Revanth Reddy on Tuesday demanded the Telangana state government to grant clemency to the prisoners who show good conduct while undergoing imprisonment on the eve of Independence Day on August 15. In an open letter to the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, the TDP leader said that the TRS had made promise during 2014 election that the prisoners would be freed if the party voted to power.

Hyderabad: TDP senior leader A Revanth Reddy on Tuesday demanded the Telangana state government to grant clemency to the prisoners who show good conduct while undergoing imprisonment on the eve of Independence Day on August 15. In an open letter to the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, the TDP leader said that the TRS had made promise during 2014 election that the prisoners would be freed if the party voted to power. But not a single prisoner was released last Independence Day.


The families of the most of the prisoners, who committed the crimes, were struggling hard to survive without their breadwinners and some of them even committed suicides unable to face the mental agony. He said that the former Chief Minister NT Rama Rao in the united AP had released many prisoners during his rule. The other state governments also practicised the same in the country for the decades, he added.
