  • Lack of faculty may lead to loss of NAAC grade
  • Sanctioned posts to be filled after regularisation of contract staff

The Minister blamed the earlier governments over the state of affairs in the state universities. “Due to lackadaisical approach of earlier governments, there wasn’t recruitment in the universities which is now taking a toll on their status.

The ratio of professors, assistant professors and associate professors should be maintained. There is chance of losing National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) grade due to lack of faculty,” he said.

Kadiyam further said that several new government degree and polytechnic colleges were approved by earlier governments but they do not have buildings, infrastructure and staff till date. “Now the government is filling the lacunae,” he added.

The Deputy Chief Minister also announced that sanctioned posts would be filled up after regularisation of services of contract employees as per the rules. On the fee reimbursement issue, the Minister said the government had already released Rs 300 crore mess charges and fee reimbursement arrears would be released by end of this month.
