Auto drivers to observe token strike on Aug 18
Telangana Auto Drivers JAC appealed to the auto drivers in Greater Hyderabad to observe one-day token strike on August 18 in protest against the Transport Department’s conspiracy to drive away majority of the existing auto rickshaws from the city and demanded that department to fulfill its commitment of solving the transfer of auto ownership problem.

Hyderabad: Telangana Auto Drivers JAC appealed to the auto drivers in Greater Hyderabad to observe one-day token strike on August 18 in protest against the Transport Department’s conspiracy to drive away majority of the existing auto rickshaws from the city and demanded that department to fulfill its commitment of solving the transfer of auto ownership problem.
JAC convenor Mohd Amanullah Khan alleged that the Transport Department was guilty of ‘breach of trust’. He clarified that about 60 per cent of the auto rickshaws in the city were not transferred to the name of the existing new owners. To regulate these auto rickshaws, the Transport Department in co-ordination with the Traffic police had held several meetings with Auto Drivers Unions and private financiers.
