Hyderabad: A video-conference trial was conducted for the five accused persons in the 2013 Dilsukhnagar twin blasts case at Cherlapally Central Prison by the Special Court for National Investigation Agency cases on Thursday.

The video-conference trial was attended by Indian Mujahedeen co-founder Yasin Bhatkal and his aides Waqas Ahmed, Tehseen Akthar, Asadullah Akthar and Ejaz Sheikh. The court adjourned the next trial on August 24.

Alerted by the Central security agencies, the Cyberabad Police Commissioner had requested the special NIA court to conduct the trial of twin blasts accused through video-conference, accepting which the court conducted the first video-conference trial on Thursday.

Earlier, Bhatkal’s counsel requested the court to provide security to the five under-trials who were housed in the Cherlapally Central Prison while taking them to the court and bringing them back to the prison during trial sessions.

The five accused persons also requested the court to install CCTV cameras in the high-security cells in the Manjeera Barrack and also in the vehicles in which they were taken to the court and back after the trials. The court also directed the prison authorities to submit a report on the status of providing e-surveillance in the high-security cells.
