The Hyderabad High Court directed the Telangana Government to file a report on the steps taken for protection of Prathyusha. She was tortured for years by her stepmother and a collaborating father. Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao met Pratyusha and her family members showering affection on the girl.

The Telangana Government's counsel told the court that the Government is all set to pay Rs 5 lakh to Prathyusha. The court asked to place Rs 5 lakh in a fixed deposit and make sure Prathyusha gets interest for the amount. The court posted the matter to August 20 for further hearing.
