'Srimanthudu' starring Mahesh Babu is not only making waves at the box office but is also inspiring many towards the concept of the movie. 'Srimanthudu' had the protagonist Harsha essayed by Mahesh Babu who adopts a village to look after the welfare of the people living in rural areas.

The concept now has inspired Telangana ministers, TRS legislators, MLCs and other public representatives along with rich NRI's who are looking into villages to adopt as a part of the Grama Jyothi programme. Monitoring the Grama Jyothi programme, Panchayat raj minister K.T. Rama Rao is motivated by the success of the movie at a time when the government is launching the programme and hopes that 'Srimanthudu' success would encourage people to adopt villages.

The programme is set to be launched on Monday by the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao at Gangadevipalli in Geesukonda mandal, in Warangal district. KCR has directed all elected representatives to adopt villages in their districts developing them into model villages

The Ministers who have been asked to adopt up to five villages are ensuring that they select the village which can be developed quickly. While MLAs will adopt one village in each mandal in their constituency, MLCs have been asked to adopt their own village or any other village in their district.
