Hyderabad: Buoyed with the nation- wide recognition on successful implementation of phase-I of Domestic Efficient Lighting Programme (DELP) scheme, the Andhra Pradesh government decided to complete the entire process of distribution of over 2 crore LED bulbs to over one crore Families in the State by March 2016.

Chief Secretary I Y R Krishna Rao , who reviewed the status of Energy Conservation and Energy Efficiency (EC and EE) programmes in connection with launching of second phase of DELP scheme in Krishna district on August 26, said that the second phase would cover Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, Prakasam and Chittoor districts .

Another four districts- East Godavari, Nellore, YSR Kadapa and Kurnool districts will be covered in December this year. A 9 watt LED bulb will be sold to the consumers at a nominal price of Rs. 10 each as against market value of around Rs 600.

Government is expected to distribute 72.46 lakhs LED bulbs(9.86 lakh in Vizianagaram, 19.8 lakh in Visakhapatnam, 17.7 lakh in Krishna, 11.68 lakh in Prakasam and 14.14 lakh bulbs will be given in Chittoor district) in the second phase.

Ace shuttlers Saina Nehwal and P Gopi Chand have assured the State Energy Conservation Mission (SECM) to extend their full support for the prestigious programme of EE an EC which will immensely benefit to the nation, he added. ,

Meanwhile, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who is determined to make AP, the best energy efficiency State in India, also directed the officials to further expedite the DELP scheme and also to take all possible measures to work out modalities for providing 5-star rated electrical appliances of fans, ACs, refrigerators etc at reasonable rates compared to the open market.

He instructed the Chief Secretary IYR Krishna Rao and Secretary to Energy Ajay Jain to prepare action plan to implement the supply of 5 star rated electrical appliances under EE and EC.
