Newly appointed TS govt special advisor keen to resolve interstate issues

  • Says TS wants to maintain cordial relations with neighbouring States
  • Flays Chandrababu Naidu for creating irrigation disputes

Hyderabad: Former Minister Dharmapuri Srinivas, who recently joined the TRS recently, took charge as Special Advisor to the Telangana State government on Friday. Addressing the maiden media conference, Srinivas said he would make untiring efforts to find solution to pending interstate issues by maintaining cordial relations with neighbouring states of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Maharashtra. He would hold talks with the Ministers and officials concerned in neighbouring states in an attempt to resolve the issues, he said.

Srinivas said he would focus his attention on pending issues, such as bifurcation of High Court, division of employees and assets between Telangana State and Andhra Pradesh. “I will also concentrate on addressing on matters like sharing of water among the neighbouring three states,” he said. He criticised AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for not coming forward for a dialogue on irrigation disputes being created by him.

“Though he claims that he is as a visionary, I cannot understand why Naidu is reluctant to find a solution to the common problems”, he wondered. “There are irrigation problems with Karnataka and Maharashtra States too. I will focus on them for an amicable solution. We need to focus on irrigation projects, waters, power and others with the neighbouring States”, he stated.

“Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has offered me this post with a great hope that I will help address the issues with alacrity. I will work up to the Chief Minister’s satisfaction,” Srinivas stated. Telangana State was carved out after protracted struggle for six decades. Perennial problems still persisted, he said. He stressed the need to concentrate on addressing the issues in a systematic way.
