Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao‘s close aide and industrialist J Rameshwar Rao has been nominated as the member of the State-level Advisory Board in the department of Women, Children, Disabled and Senior Citizens. The 13 member Board will be headed by Minister for Women Development and Child Welfare T Nageswara Rao.

The role of the advisory board is to give advice to the State government on matters relating to the establishment and maintenance of homes, mobilisation of resources, providing facilities for education, training and rehabilitation of children in need of care and protection and juveniles in conflict with law. The board will also coordinate with various official and non official agencies concerned to achieve the goals.

However, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) felt that the government had given an insignificant post to the chairman of My Home Industries Limited. Officials said it was a practice to have someone from the corporate bodies on the advisory board and hence Rao was selected to be one of the 13 members.

The other members of the advisory board are – Secretary In-charge of Juvenile Justice Service, Secretaries of School, Education, Health, Medical and Family Welfare, Home, Labour and Employment, Higher Education and Finance departments.
