TS govt to take over Malakpet Race Course

Hyderabad: Commercial Taxes Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav said the state government was examining the legalities in regard to taking over the Malakpet Race Course.

Speaking to mediapersons at the Secretariat here on Saturday, Talasani said the Race Course had been organising gambling of several crores of rupees, but it was not paying tax to the government.

He said the tax evasion came to light after a 60-member team of the Commercial Tax Department conducted raids on six out of 24 bookies.

He said several documents had been seized during the raids. He said the Income Tax officials are likely to refer the matter to Money Laundering Department.
