KCR mulls politburo revamp. The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) has decided to go in for a major revamp of politburo, the highest governing body of the party.

The strength of party policy-making body is likely to be reduced to single digit

Hyderabad: The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) has decided to go in for a major revamp of politburo, the highest governing body of the party. Grapevine has it that the total strength of the body will be reduced to a single digit. This new proposal is in stark contrast to the earlier body, which had 42 members on board. Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao intends to limit its size, if possible to just 5.

Prior to assuming power in the State, TRS was a party fighting with the sole objective of achieving statehood for Telangana. Any influential politician or personality from other field who joined hands with the pink party was inducted into the TRS, especially between 2010-14, when the separate state movement was at its peak.

That was why the strength of politburo rose from 18 to 42 within a span of four years, according to sources. After TRS coming to power, several key leaders were inducted into the State Cabinet and some became MLAs and MPs. And a few others got nominated posts.

As of today, the party leadership does not want them to be inducted into politburo again. This means the jumbo size politburo will become lean. KCR wants to make it a small body so that it could function effectively as a bridge between the government and the party. It would be monitoring the implementation of promises made in the party manifesto and giving necessary inputs to the government.

Meanwhile, party sources stated that politburo could be a mix of seniors, who are with the party since its inception, and new entrants to the party. Although nothing has been finalised thus far, names of Peddi Sudarshan Reddy (Warangal), Naradasu Lakshman Rao (Karimnagar), Rajaiah Yadav (Medak), K Harishwar Reddy (Ranga Reddy) besides SC leader Mandula Samuel as possible members are doing rounds already.
