Govt mulls Common Universities Act

Hyderabad: The Telangana Government is mulling to implement a Common Universities Act for all State run universities. In this regard, the Telangana State Council of Higher Education convened a meeting with registrars of all State-run universities here on Tuesday. During the meeting, it was decided that sub-committees will be formed and registrars have been directed to send a report after discussing the Common Universities Act in their respective universities.

Currently, Telugu University, Dr BR Ambedkar University, Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies, Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture and Fine Arts University function under different Acts. Universities like Osmania, Mahatma Gandhi, Palamuru among others come under the ambit of Telangana Universities Act.
