Hyderabad: Telangana TDP plunged into troubled waters. Differences between Telangana TDP working president A Revanth Reddy and TDLP leader E Dayakar Rao reached a crescendo as the two hurled abuses against each other during a meeting attended by all senior leaders at the party’s head office here on Saturday.

The trouble began when Dayakar compared Revanth with an ‘item song’ during the meeting conducted to prepare strategy for the Warangal bypoll. “Revanth is only like an item song in the party. He comes and goes,” Dayakar reportedly made the comment. He also said that it was he (Dayakar) who was working hard for the party.

‘Red faced’ Revanth immediately retorted and called Dayakar a ‘covert’ in the party. In a quick response, Dayakar took on Revanth for the alleged use of TDLP staff as attendants in his house.Sensing that the situation was going out of control, senior leaders, including party President L Ramana intervened and pacified the two leaders.

Except two senior leaders - V Narendar Reddy and R Prakash Reddy, all the other leaders stood by Dayakar. The meeting ended abruptly without taking any decision on the election strategy. Sources said that the issue was brought to the notice of TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu. Disciplinary action will be taken against the two leaders after an enquiry by the party’s Telangana unit.

It is a known fact that split between the two leaders widen after Revanth was elevated as party working president and Dayakar was removed from the same post as well as from Telangana party committee. To show their upper hand, the two leaders engaged in group politics and created their own gangs in the party.
