Warangal: Scouting for right candidates for Warangal Lok Sabha (SC) byelection by political parties gained momentum as the election notification was scheduled to be issued on October 28.

It might be noted that the seat fallen vacant following the resignation of the sitting MP, Kadiyam Srihari, who was elevated to Deputy Chief Minister position. The election process has to be completed by December 11.

For the first time, the Left parties have come together to field a common candidate and chose OU PG Law College Principal Gali Vinod Kumar as their nominee for the election. The parties like TRS, BJP, TDP and Congress which were yet to finalise their candidates were now holding hectic parleys to select their nominees.

Continuing their alliance, the BJP-TDP decided to field a common candidate in the election. The parties have arrived at a decision that BJP would contest the election, party core committee member T Rajeshwara Rao informed The Hans India on Saturday.

According to him, the candidate would be finalised in the next three to four days. A plan of action was also prepared to face the election and the campaigning would be launched officially from October 28, coinciding with the issue of election notification.

The entire constituency was divided into 40 units and daily eight units would be covered in the first phase of campaigning. Booth-level workers meetings would also be held, he said. The party was considering the names of an NRI Dr P Devaiah, Dr Rajamouli, Gade Dayakar and former MLA G Jayapal.

Congress has planned a high-level meeting with the TPCC chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy, working president M Bhatti Vikramarka, AICC SC Cell Chairman Koppula Raju at Congress Bhavan in Hanamkonda on October 26 to seek opinion from local leaders on the party nominee.

In Congress, former MP S Rajaiah, former minister Dr G Vijayarama Rao and senior leader Rajarapu Pratap were aspiring to contest. It was said Rajaiah was enjoying the support of many senior leaders. The TRS leadership which aims to defend the seat was engaged in serious activity, though not visible, in selecting a suitable candidate and conducted several surveys on the chances of probable candidates.

The party has reportedly decided to field a candidate belonging to Madiga community as the majority of voters in the Lok Sabha constituency belong to that community. Though there were several names, a senior leader Pasunuri Dayakar, belonging to Madiga community was said to be the frontrunner.

The party was also considering the names of advocates JAC leader G Ravi Kumar, doctors JAC leader Dr Bongu Ramesh also called as Barigela Ramesh, and an educationist JS Paramjyothi, informed the sources.

‘The TRS nominee would be announced only after all the parties declare their candidates,’ a senior leader in the party told The Hans India.
