Hyderabad: A two-judge PIL bench of the High Court at Hyderabad comprising Acting Chief Justice Dilip B Bhosale and Justice SV Bhatt on Tuesday refused to issue notice to IAS officer Smitha Sabharwal in a public interest writ petition questioning the action of the Telangana government in granting Rs 15 lakhs as legal funds in a defamation case filed against the management of Outlook magazine.

The bench was dealing with a PIL filed by K Eshwar Rao questioning the action of the government. When Mahender Reddy, Special Counsel sought time for filing the counter affidavit, the bench reminded that it was the second time the government was seeking time to file the counter and said if the counsel assures that he will not again seek time.

When Sarasani Satyam Reddy, senior counsel for the petitioner requested the court to order notices to the IAS officer as well, it rejected the request saying that it would order notices when the time arose.
