City’s auto drivers warned not to ply without meter; indulge in irregularities

Hyderabad: The twin cities’ police on Thursday warned auto drivers in Hyderabad and Cyberabad not to indulge in irregularities and decided to impose heavy fines on the erratic auto drivers from December 1.

Observing that despite advising several times and also warning the auto drivers for not plying with meters and demanding higher fares from the passengers, the traffic police of Hyderabad and Cyberabad decided to impose heavy fines on auto drivers for indulging in irregularities.

In order to facilitate the citizens of Hyderabad, the traffic police of Hyderabad and Cyberabad conducted a coordination meeting with the Auto Drivers Association and decided not to allow any auto to ply on road without authentic meter. The auto drivers were warned not to engage passengers over the permitted limit of three persons.

“All the auto drivers are advised to get meters with proper seal and ply with meter only. They are advised not to indulge in irregularities by demanding extra fare. Vigorous enforcement will be done from December 1 and huge fines will be imposed for irregularities,” said Additional Commissioner (Traffic) Jitender in a press note on Thursday.
