After several discussions held by the Congress party, Rajaiah has been selected as the candidate to contest for the Warangal Lok Sabha seat in the by-elections.
After several discussions held by the Congress party, Rajaiah has been selected as the candidate to contest for the Warangal Lok Sabha seat in the by-elections. Former MP and Congress leader Vivek was earlier said to be the one in contention to be the nominee but as the leader declined to contest, local leader and former MP Rajaiah was chosen.

According to the latest reports, Rajaiah's candidature was opposed by a section of leaders in the party. However, Congress party's high command is said to have directed the cadres to focus on working towards the victory of Rajaiah in the Warangal by-polls and set their differences aside.
