Rogue truck goes berserk; one killed, 13 hurt

A techie from the city was crushed to death and 13 other commuters were injured in a mishap, as a lorry rammed into moving vehicles after the brake of the heavy vehicle failed on the Balkampet – Balanagar flyover on Sunday. The incident took place when a lorry travelling towards Balanagar rammed into the vehicles moving in front of it.

The illfated software engineer, G Sridhar, who was travelling on a bike, was crushed to death and 13 others traveling in cars and autos sustained injuries. As many as four cars, two autos and a bike belonging to the deceased were damaged in the mishap.

The Sanathnagar police, on receiving information, rushed to the spot and took the victims to a nearby hospital for treatment, where the doctors said four of the injured persons were stated to be in critical condition. The police registered a case against the absconding lorry driver and sent the body of the deceased person to Gandhi Hospital mortuary and were searching for the lorry driver who had fled from the spot abandoning the lorry
